Why volunteer? Lots of reasons.
To contribute to new medical discoveries.
To try a new medical treatment before it is available to the public.
To get excellent care.
What is a clinical trial?
Every medication on the shelf has at sometime been subject to a clinical trial.
In a trial, we try to find out how effective and safe a new medication is.
Medications already on the market may be tested for use in treating new illnesses.
What kind of care will I receive at CCRA during a study?
You can expect to receive professional and respectful care as well as being educated about your condition.
You will be assigned a research doctor and coordinator, who can answer any questions you may have.
After the study is over, you will be offered treatment at no cost to you for a period of time.
Our dedicated community liaison can assist you with locating follow-up care to facilitate a smooth transition after completion of involvement in our study.
What safeguards or protections do I have?
Every study we do, for the purpose of registering a new medication with the Food and Drug Administration, has been reviewed and approved by them.
Each study has also been reviewed by an independent board of reviewers and judged to meet safety standards.
Everything will be explained to you fully in writing before you are asked to participate in the study.
You may withdraw from the study at any time.
