Pain Treatment & Therapy
We often conduct studies that test the effectiveness of investigational and well-known medications on chronic pain disorders. While acute pain is a normal sensation triggered in the nervous system to alert you to possible injury and the need to take care of yourself, chronic pain is different. Chronic pain persists. Pain signals keep firing in the nervous system for weeks, months, even years. (Source: NIH Pain Information Page) There are many potential causes that could lead to chronic pain, such as an initial back sprain, serious infection or ongoing causes unrelated to any past injury, such as arthritis, cancer, or fibromyalgia.
At Capital Clinical Research Associates we are committed to the research necessary to determine the causes and effective medication for chronic pain. Studies generally last about six months with the possibility of continuing treatment afterwards. Participants receive, free of charge, a thorough physical evaluation, all study medications, and regular follow up visits.
For more information about our studies, please contact us by calling (301) 770-7375 or by filling out the Contact form at right. For some studies, we offer Self-Assessment questionnaire which are available by clicking on the button above.
Finally, the pages in our Participating In A Study section above contain much more information about how studies work and what you will experience if you qualify to participate in one.
