Pediatric Studies
Pediatric depression is a tremendous concern in the Unites States and only in the last 20 years has it begun to attract more serious attention. Children who are depressed often exhibit a varied set of symptoms different from adult depression. It can be challenging to separate temporary problems normal in those developmental years from clinical depression. When children and adolescents become depressed, they may pretend to be sick, refuse to go to school, get in more trouble, sulk, act negative, irritable, grouchy, and feel misunderstood. A child with depression typically feels a sense of discouragement, loss of self-worth and little interest in activities they used to enjoy. (William R. Beardslee, MD, Chief Psychiatrist at Children’s Hospital Boston).
Capital Clinical Research Associates is proud of its participation in important and groundbreaking research and because of this we enthusiastically embrace research conducted for those who are frequently underserved. If you have a child between the ages of 12 and 17 who you think might be suffering from depression, he/she may qualify to participate in a study of pediatric depression.
